Parkour practitioners are sometimes seen as troublemakers damaging property. However those that cultivate and stay true to its roots know that parkour is at its core altrusic – that its purpose is to serve and not destroy. This is exemplified by one of its founding values:

The Leave No Trace Initiative aims to lead by example. We want to show the community that we respect the environment, that we want to train in harmony with the community. We look after our spaces and we hope everyone else does the same. We hope this initiative reinforces this philosophy and strengthens our commitment as parkour practitioners (traceurs) and just as importantly as members of the community who look after and respect the places which we share and play.
